Commander’s Message:

Welcome to the Golden Ring Barrack’s webpage.  We hope that you find this site both helpful and informative.  The troopers and civilian personnel assigned to the Golden Ring Barrack work diligently, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to serve the citizens of Baltimore County, the residents of the State of Maryland, and those traveling through our State, with integrity, fairness, and service.  While our barrack is primarily responsible for both criminal and traffic enforcement on all interstate highways in Baltimore County (with the exception of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway), you can be rest assured that our troopers stand ready to assist anywhere in the State of Maryland.  I hope you take the time to navigate through our site and see first-hand how the personnel assigned to the Golden Ring Barrack stand ready to serve you, and strive to be “Maryland’s Finest!”

Welcome again,

Lieutenant Anthony S. Lowman, Commander.

Golden Ring Barrack Shop with a Cop - Monday, December 12, 2011

On 12/3/11 Golden Ring held its annual Shop with a Cop event.  This was the barracks
4th year coordinating the event.  This year 42 local children participated in the program,
which partnered each child with a trooper for the day.  Each child was given a tour of the
barrack before heading out to their assigned trooper’s vehicle.  From there all 42 vehicles
headed to Walmart in a convoy. Once at Walmart each child was given a $100 allowance to
purchase items of their choosing.  Many troopers, Walmart employees, and even witnessing
shoppers contributed extra money to help the children even more.  Once they were finished
shopping the group went to Eastern Technical High School for breakfast, gift wrapping,
games, and face painting.  The high school Culinary Program served breakfast and the Law
Program wrapped the children’s gifts.  This helps satisfies community service hours the high
school students are required to perform to graduate, and also gives the Law students access
to MSP personnel in an informal setting.

Many barracks and divisions have been responsible for this program's continued success as it has grown over the years and this year was no different.  Troopers assisted from Waterloo, JFK, Westminster, Glen Burnie, and CVED.  The program aired on Fox45
news at the following link:

Shop with a Cop: Golden Ring Barrack: December 3rd, 2011 - Sunday, November 27, 2011
December 3rd, 2011
Every year around December, members of the Golden Ring Barrack hold our
annual "Shop with a Cop" program.  The program helps children in the area
whose families have fallen on hard times.  Each child selected to
participate is partnered with a trooper for the day.  Troopers give their
assigned child a personalized tour of the police barracks before heading to
the Rosedale Walmart in a police vehicle.  Upon their arrival at Walmart,
each child is presented with a gift card to do some holiday shopping.
Troopers assist their assigned child with their selection(s) before
responding to Eastern Technical High School for lunch.  Students from
Eastern Tech's Culinary Program serve lunch for the troopers and children
while students from the Law Program assist children by wrapping their gifts.

This program started in 2008, helping 20 area children and has grown
over the years.  This year troopers will be assisting 43 area children and
their families.  Funding for the event is provided by Walmart, Eastern Tech,
by the troopers who participate, and from private sources.
