In April, the Investigation Section handled a child sexual abuse case that
involved two teenage male victims and a male suspect. A search of his residence
yielded pornography and eight handguns; he has since been tried and is currently
serving a 50 year sentence. A series of armed robberies across several counties in
September led to the apprehension of four suspects and the recovery of a stolen
getaway vehicle. Violent crime has decreased in both Kent and Queen Anne’s counties.
The October traffic stop of two vehicles traveling in excess of 100 mph led to the
arrests of the operators and the seizure of a handgun, two packages of marijuana,
about $1,900, and a 2007 Cadillac Escalade. Criminal, CDS, and warrant arrests have
increased 62%,101%, and 58% respectively. The number of citations issued went up
20%, to 23,717, as did DUI arrests (19% to 366), and 80 guns were seized, up from six
the previous year.
