| The Electronic Services Division (ESD) manages the complex communications systems in support of the mission of the MSP. Some of the larger projects that ESD recently participated in are: Maryland Incident Management Interoperability Communications System (MIMICS), which will enable communications interoperability between different agencies and the Maryland Microwave Communications Backbone, which provides the communications infrastructure to support a Statewide wireless communications network that can transport data and voice information. | |

| Maintaining and renovating the 63 locations of the Department throughout the State is the responsibility of the Facilities Management Section. The diverse duties of the Section, which include air sampling in the workplace and administration of the recycling program, were accomplished through processing over thousands of in-house work requests and hundreds of work requests from the satellite operations. | |

| The Information Technology Division is responsible for all computer-related functions within the Department. In 2005, the members of the Information Technology Division replaced all of the servers and workstation computers at each of the 23 Barracks, began installing wireless mobile data computers to allow trooopers access to information from their patrol vehicles, installed a new agency-wide e-mail server and developed this new website. | |

| The Motor VehicleDivision (MVD) is responsible for procuring, maintaining, repairing, and disposing of all of the Department’s vehicles. Members of MVD receive new vehicles, install the emergency equipment and issue the vehicles to Troopers. In addition, most maintenance is completed by MVD mechanics in-house. In a typical year, MVD mechanics complete close to 15,000 service requests per year. | |

| The Human Resources Division is comprised of two definitive operating sections. The Employment Services Section, which is responsible for all sworn and civilian recruitment activities, salary administration, as well as the classification and compensation procedures. The Personnel Administration Section, which oversees the Department’s Medical Administration, and personnel related support; such as Attendance Control, Retirement Benefits, Performance Evaluation Program, and custodial record keeping. Management of all medical services and risk management are also facilitated through the Division. | |

| The Promotional Testing Division is responsible for all aspects of the promotional testing processes. These processes are used to promote sworn personnel to the ranks of Corporal through Captain. The process for each rank includes a written examination, the submission and review of a structured resume and an oral interview board. In addition, the Promotional Testing Division provides allied departments with assessors for promotional processes as requested. The Division also conducts job task analyses of all ranks to develop up-to-date Task Statements and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which support and validate the promotional process. | |
